Day 2

It's Day 2 of blogging and sitting at home. Yesterday the doc gave me some antibiotics, and also gave me this awesome thing called lidocaine patches. Basically its a giant bandaid with anesthetic on it. You wear it for 12 hours and it numbs the area (mostly). I got more sleep last night, but still not as much as I need. Tomorrow is back to the Jungle, and the next day is my rheumatology appointment! I'm super excited, because I really need this visit to go well.

In the mean time, I have been quite bored today. Can't dance, wish I could draw, hands hurt too much to color, nothing good online... So I reluctantly started cleaning. I've actually been far more productive than I thought I would be. The last load of laundry is in the wash, I found the bedroom floor and bathroom floor, and the living room looks quite pretty, if I do say so myself =D I still need to put away the clean clothes, finish the bathroom, do the dishes, and cook dinner before hubby comes home, but this is way more fun.

So this Saturday my sister-in-law flys in for Metro Con. We're picking her up in the morning then hitting the road for Tampa. I can't wait, I love having any excuse to dress up! I plan to dress as Wendy the first day, and Alice the second. Now I know Alice is a little over-done lately, but I plan to spice it up. I'm gonna raid my friends closet for some good shoes, and make a second apron I can bloodstain. Voila! I'll be a loose interpretation of American McGee's Alice. The second game comes out tomorrow, and my wonderful hubby has already pre-ordered it as my birthday present. (He also really wants to play it lol)

Time to get back to productive-grownup-ness, ugh

Here we go

I'm gonna try the blogging thing. Which probably means I'll do it for a little while, forget, feel guilty, do a long pity post, and then forget it again for a few months. Productive, huh?

Let's start with the name of my blog, Chipper Skipper. I have a tendency to be quite chipper (although not recently, explanation to follow shortly), and I am skipper. What kind of skipper? The best kind! I'm a Jungle Cruise Skipper at WDW in Florida. Love it and all the crazy stuff that goes down.

But why have I not been chipper lately?

Bad Luck. I don't really know how else to put it. And every time I think it's over, it continues to run screaming downhill. For instance:

-My parents are in South Korea. That sounds exotic, but its really because my dad is an officer in the US Air Force. I'm very proud of him, but not so thrilled the military sent them all to Korea. Well, I'm glad my little sister is getting such an educational experience, I just wish it was closer, that's all. I love my family very much, and I am quite attached to them. And they are literally on the other side of the planet.

-I am currently fighting the medical system and my own body. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis (and you can read what she has to say here: http://rustedrunner.blogspot.com/ ) and her sister has ankylosing spondylitis. Well, I started showing a lot of the same symptoms so marched my way to the doctor (ok, I didn't. I had already been there a bunch for migraine problems) and requested the tell-tale blood tests. He was a little perplexed why a nineteen-year-old wanted arthritis tests but went along with it. Guess what came back positive? So I went to see a rheumatology specialist. He was all "Yeah, I really think it's ankylosing spondylitis, so lets do the blood tests again and some x-rays." Sounded good, so went and did all the tests and came back. He decided that even though my blood tests were all "very highly positive", there was no damage shown on the x-ray, so I was fine and could come back in a year to do the tests again. Um, excuse me, I would like this under control before it does permanent damage to my SPINE, okay? I have a new appointment with a different doctor on Wednesday, hoping it goes better than this one did.

-Work. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, I love being a Cast Member, I do. But it hasn't been smooth sailing lately. I keep getting points and reprimands for calling in sick thanks to the medical shenangians going on right now. I got in trouble for bumping the boat in front of me because of some badly shouted directions and slow reaction time.

-Today's ridiculousness. Because my medical fun just couldn't be enough, I developed an infected cyst right under my arm that hurts like nothing else. I spent the whole morning at the doctor, then getting the paperwork for work saying I would be out today and tomorrow, so I don't get a point, right? Ugh, wrong. Because it's not work related and under 3 days, I still get the point. Why Mickey? Why??

-Oh yeah, I'm getting my wisdom teeth. Apparently my body just loves racking up medical bills

-Got my first speeding ticket a few weeks ago. The $129 ticket sucked, but the cop was nice and didn't give the the $250 ticket, so I guess that was nice of him.

-Drowning in medical bills and student loans and working a barely-above-minimum wage job. The really unfair part? Those student loans aren't even mine, they're my hubby's loans.

Don't get me wrong. There is good stuff happening too. I have family visiting this summer (although scheduling screwed up my schedule again, ugh). I have some amazing friends helping me through. And I still get glimpses of that elusive thing called Magic. For me, magic is watching a child's face light up at something new and amazing. That look makes me melt. I see amazing, inspired children every day at Disney. Granted, I also see the spoiled sourpusses, but they cannot win out against pure joy.

Now that I'm pretty much done writing that, I don't really remember half of it. Yay for babbling!
